Exceptional teachers implementing exemplary programs.
Coupling a challenging and enriching teaching
environment with a purposeful educational philosophy, High
Meadows School inspires
the power of discovery and a sense of individuality in every student.
With more than thirty years of experience in preparing students
to meet the academic, social, and creative challenges, our programs
have put students first and are designed to foster a love for learning
that carries our students not only from preschool to middle years,
but beyond High Meadows. We insure structures for caring and serious
learning; structures that
enable teachers to know students well and to work with them intensely.
Shared
exhibitions of student work make it clear
what the school values and how students are doing.
Co-teachers
are in place to support collaboration focused on student learning.
We promote shared
decision-making and dialogue about teaching and learning with other
teachers, students, and
parents.

The High Meadows staff is knowledgeable of child growth and development,
curriculum, and learning theories. Since our philosophy emphasizes
learning as a lifetime skill, the tools for continual self-education
are given priority. Administrators have implemented a teacher evaluation
and development program that seeks to affirm and strengthen the
effectiveness of faculty
members. They do this by creating an environment where professional
development is encouraged as a primary component of good teaching.
The administrative staff provides multiple opportunities for staff
development such as training in InTech technology, multi-age education,
and co-teaching. Some of our staff have had the unique opportunity
to receive training in Italian preschool education models like
Reggio Emilia. Well over 40% of High Meadows teachers are pursuing
or have completed their graduate or post-graduate work. We support
our teachers so that they may enrich the learning of their students
through research-based educational programs.
