Curriculum - IB/PYP Programs


Five Components of the PYP:

Untitled Document   Concepts – powerful ideas which have relevance within and across the disciplines and which students must explore and re-explore in order to develop understanding
Untitled Document   Knowledge – significant, relevant subject matter we wish the students to explore and know about
Untitled Document   Skills – those things the students need to be able to do to succeed in a changing, challenging world
Untitled Document   Attitudes – dispositions which are expressions of fundamental values, beliefs and feelings about learning, the environment, and people
Untitled Document   Action – demonstrations of deeper learning in responsible behavior through positive action and service; a manifestation in practice of the other essential elements

A Comprehensive Approach to Curriculum

The PYP focuses on providing “guided learning,” so that the child becomes an independent, active and engaged learner. To help schools accomplish this goal, the Programme offers a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning with an international curriculum model that provides our teachers with:
