High Meadows debate team wins state, Sweepstakes Award

 Members of the High Meadows debate team won the Sweepstakes Award for best team performance at the State Middle School Debate Tournament last month at Emory University. In all, the 23-member debate team captured six Junior Varsity team awards and eight individual Junior Varsity speaker awards, including the Junior Varsity Championship that went to Alexis de Groot and Madison Horton. Members of the team are: Andrew Messina, Russell Clark, Kate Beecham, Claudia Bennett, Nora Correa and Mia Zvetan, Seth Davis, Alexis de Groot, Madison Horton, Hayley Shoji, Olivia Medley, Aubree Clark, Aarij Abbas, Jake Kaplan, Tom Vale, Dylan Patel, Adrian Astaphan, Trey Bridges, Will Selman, Alec Nash, Maliya Wells, Laura Gilbert, Sydney Stasch and Ethan Craig. |
