A dozen Fulton County Schools have been designated as Clean Air Schools, joining more than 220 schools statewide which have made a commitment to a cleaner environment for students and staff.

"By learning to 'repair the air' with no idling initiatives, promoting alternative modes of transportation (walking and riding the bus) and learning about the air we breathe through creative lesson plans, students become stewards for good air quality," noted Sarah Waters of the Clean Air Campaign.

The following schools have successfully completed one or more Clean Air Schools programs in a prior school year and are continuing to work toward improving air quality for their students and the community:

In Alpharetta: Alpharetta Elementary, Amana Academy, Fulton Science Academy Middle School McGinnis Woods Country Day School, Ocee Elementary, and Webb Bridge Middle School

In Roswell: Centennial High School, Esthklller Jackson Elementary, Hembree Springs Elementary, High Meadows School, and Village Montessori.
