High Meadows Foreign Language ProgramThe High Meadows School Spanish program follows the National Spanish Standards. Students begin Spanish instruction in Preschool. Kindergarten through 5th grade students take Spanish classes one to two times a week. In grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, Spanish is considered a core class and is offered five times a week.

The Spanish classroom at High Meadows is a dynamic place where many different approaches to learning take place side by side. Students perform traditional tasks like verb conjugations, but they also tell stories, enact role-plays and skits, play games, make presentations, enjoy culinary specialties from Spain and Latin America, and steep themselves in the geography, the history, and the many varied cultural traditions of the Spanish-speaking world.

Students graduate from High Meadows School able to engage in conversations. They also have a strong foundation that allows them to earn credit for a second year Spanish program (Spanish II) in a high school setting.
