Tipi
When High Meadows began, our founders and early leaders recognized that we had much to learn from the people who walked this land before us. As a way of honoring this history, High Meadows constructed a Sioux tipi to define the space, call the eye upward, excite the intellect, and refresh the senses.
The tipi is primarily used for teaching, meditation, and gathering.
When High Meadows began, our founders and early leaders recognized that we had much to learn from the people who walked this land before us. Through centuries of living on the land and observing the plants and animals who had lived here long before them, Native Americans developed a huge respect for and knowledge of the world around them. As a way of honoring this history, High Meadows constructed a Sioux tipi to define the space, call the eye upward, excite the intellect, and refresh the senses. The tipi is primarily used for teaching, meditation, and gathering.
The words etched around the fire ring:
“All who come in reverence, with a receptive heart, are welcome!” honor native traditions and maintain a sense of respect in the tipi.
