List of 2 frequently asked questions.

  • What does an Interim Head of School do?

Unlike a permanent Head, the interim is not tasked with creating a new strategic vision or implementing transformational change. Instead, we're seeking someone who deeply aligns with our mission, vision, and values, who understands and supports our child-centered, experiential educational approach, and who can thoughtfully evaluate what's working well at High Meadows while identifying opportunities for improvement. This is a vital stabilizing role that allows the Board time to conduct a comprehensive search for our next long-term Head of School.

Welcome to High Meadows School & Camp

Welcome to High Meadows School & Camp. It is a privilege to serve this remarkable community as Interim Head of School.

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family makes. At High Meadows, children are not simply taught what to think. Instead, they are inspired to ask questions, explore ideas, solve meaningful problems, and discover who they are as learners and people. From our youngest students in Pre-K through our graduates in Eighth Grade, every child is known, valued, and encouraged to develop a lifelong love of learning.

As an International Baccalaureate World School grounded in progressive education, High Meadows offers an experience that is both academically rigorous and deeply joyful. Our 42-acre campus becomes an extension of the classroom, where woods, meadows, gardens, and a barnyard with chickens, donkeys, and horses invite curiosity, investigation, and discovery. Through inquiry, experiential learning, and authentic projects, students connect ideas across disciplines while developing the confidence, resilience, and compassion needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Equally important is the culture that defines our community. High Meadows is a place where children experience a sense of belonging, build meaningful relationships, and learn to care for one another and the natural world. Here, learning extends beyond academic achievement to the development of character, empathy, leadership, and responsible global citizenship.

I invite you to visit our campus, meet our exceptional faculty and students, and experience firsthand the warmth, energy, and sense of wonder that make High Meadows such a special place. I look forward to welcoming your family to our school.

Warmly,
Ben Hebebrand
